I painted an island in Porters Lake where geese come to mate and raise their young. The land is simple—rock meeting water—but it’s full of quiet activity, life quietly unfolding. I let the paint follow the curves of the shore and the movement of the waves, holding a sense of arrival, of a place that nurtures.
